It takes a village to build a village: Ark seeks volunteers

Ark of Highland Lakes, formerly Highland Lakes Crisis Network, is starting work on its ambitious multipurpose community project called Valley View Village. The nonprofit is holding volunteer work days throughout the summer, with the first one on Saturday, June 7.
Valley View is a primary goal of Ark. The integrated community would serve Highland Lakes residents in need with affordable housing, on-site jobs and training, events, food production, medical services, counseling, and spiritual support.
“As the population in our region grows, the number of people needing help getting their lives back on track is growing with it,” wrote Ark of Highland Lakes President Kevin Naumann following the project’s announcement. “Valley View will expand the reach and depth of our ability to serve those who need a transformative encounter with God’s love.”
Volunteer work days are scheduled for June 7, July 12, and Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at Valley View, 582 FM 1855 in Marble Falls. The hands-on tasks will “help prepare the grounds for what’s to come,” according to Ark’s website.
