Helen Kobak Smith, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, went home to be with Jesus on April 26, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on May 13, 1952, in Elyria, Ohio. Helen was a devoted wife to her husband of 36 years, Dave Smith, and a source of love and strength to her family. She and Dave have lived in The Trails of Horseshoe Bay for the past 20 years.

Helen brought fun and happiness into every room she entered. Her energy was contagious, her kindness boundless, and her spirit unstoppable. She had a knack for making every day brighter and every gathering more joyful. Though we will miss her dearly, we know she’s up there spreading that same joy, probably organizing a heavenly 501 happy hour!

Helen grew up in Ohio, attended Cleveland State University, and worked as a Dental Assistant before embarking on a very successful career in electronic component and electronic contract manufacturing sales.

She was known for her generosity, her kindness, her big heart, her sense of humor, her quick wit, and her dedication to her family.

Helen had many interests, including cooking, gardening, outdoor activities (fishing), and spending time with her friends and loved ones. She was also involved with many organizations, including the Master Naturalists and early Hill Country Trekers, and was Firewise Captain for The Trails for 20 years. While she also volunteered for great causes such as Bridges to Life (prison Ministry), Joseph’s Hammer (prison Chapel), Baylor Scott & White Oncology, and St. Fredrick’s food kitchen, perhaps just as important, she encouraged others to do so, too.

Helen also acted as the unofficial Ambassador of The Trails, welcoming new neighbors and personally seeing that they met everyone in the neighborhood. Helen truly had an impact on those around her and will be deeply missed. We will never forget the love she brought to all of our lives!

Helen Smith is survived by her husband, Dave, and children, Brad and wife Shelli, David, Ike and wife Vicki, and Summer and husband Chris. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexis, Carson, Connor, Tyler, Harrison, and Kacie; sisters Mary Ann Bliss, Wanda DiVencenzo, Theresa Kobak Bird and husband John, and Dr. Christine Berger D.D. and husband Gary; and nieces and nephews, Lois Stoll, David and Marlita DiVencenzo, Janet and Tim O’Dell, Joe and Laura Bliss, Jim and Jen Bliss, Sherie and Joe Lustig, Brenda Bliss, and Vaughn and Todd Berger.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Helen Kobak, and sisters Janette and Irene.

Here’s to Helen: May her memory inspire all of us to live a little bigger, laugh a little louder, and love a whole lot more.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 15, 2025, from 3-6:30 p.m. in the Yacht Club Ballroom at Horseshoe Bay Resort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridges to Life in Helen Smith’s memory.
