The Marble Falls Independent School District recently made three major leadership appointments, including to the principal position at Spicewood Elementary School. The district also has new directors of Special Programs and the maintenance department.
Tiffany Brantley is the new principal at Spicewood Elementary, taking the reins from Kara Gasaway, who will be the principal of Marble Falls Elementary next year.
Brantley has 24 years of educational experience, with 13 of those spent in MFISD. She has been an assistant principal at Spicewood for the past several years and before that a fifth-grade teacher and instructional coach.
During her career, she has taught all subjects in grades 1-5 and led literacy initiatives and family engagement events.
“I believe in fostering a school culture where all students feel seen, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential,” said Brantley in a May 20 media release from MFISD. “I will continue to build on the strong foundation we’ve created over
the past couple of years, striving for excellence while nurturing a sense of belonging and joy in learning.”
Brantley and her husband, John, have two sons: Charlie, 19, and Hudson, 16. In her off time, she enjoys walks in her neighborhood, reading about sociology and brain science, and baking a mean sourdough bread.
DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Cord Woerner, a long-serving district leader and 1983 Marble Falls High School graduate, returns to MFISD as its director of Special Programs. He most recently served as the city of Marble Falls’ juvenile case manager in the Municipal Court, working with youths and their families.
Accomplishments from his previous stint in MFISD included coaching football and leading state-finalist baseball teams as well as building the district’s first comprehensive safety protocols.
“Cord Woerner is one of the best men I know,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeff Gasaway in the media release. “He lives out our district’s vision (to love every child and inspire them) every single day.”
DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE
Eric Humiston was promoted to head of maintenance after only joining the district’s operations team in 2023. He has four decades of knowledge and hands-on leadership in maintenance and facilities, including time spent as a vice president for a Fortune 500 real estate company.
Humiston lives in Spicewood with wife Tracy, who also works for MFISD. They raise Angus cattle on their ranch.
“Since coming to MFISD, I’ve been most impressed by the hard work and talent
of our team,” said Humiston in the media release. “It’s an honor to step into this role and keep building something great together.”
CORRECTION: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Tiffany Brantley is taking over for Heather Metzgar at Spicewood Elementary. She is actually replacing Kara Gasaway. Metzgar was to have been the Spicewood principal starting in the 2025-26 school year but recently took a position at Midway ISD. DailyTrib.com apologizes for the error.
