Downtown Burnet was transformed into a community party hub over the last few months, with Jackson Street Jams packing the streets for a series of free concerts that saw high turnouts this year. 

Burnet Chamber of Commerce Director Teryl McFerrin explained that this year’s events drew in crowds 3,000-6,000 strong.

“We have had so much support from the community,” she said. “I think we’ve found a sort of sweet spot and believe what we’re doing is good and that we just need to keep doing what we’re doing.”

Several businesses on the square participated in the festivities, extending their hours to accommodate concertgoers. McFerrin said that bringing extra foot traffic to the square was paramount to Jackson Street Jams’ success.

“Between sets, (we) made sure to shout out businesses and say things like ‘don’t forget that Trailblazers is open, don’t forget to go by Mad Hatters,’” McFerrin said. “(The businesses) are why we’re here. That’s why we’re investing our money here.”

The concert series will return in 2027, with lineups and dates already in the works. 

“We pay very close attention to what people like, music wise,” McFerrin said. “We’ve started to reach out to some of those people that the community really loved and are planning out next year. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Jackson Street Jams is a free concert series started by the Burnet Community Coalition, which serves as a partnership between the city of Burnet, the Burnet Economic Development Corporation, Burnet Chamber of Commerce, and Burnet County Tourism Department.

Concerts take place at the intersection of Main Street and Jackson Street on the historic Burnet square, with seats lining each respective street. Food trucks, shops, and street dancing are among other activities that concertgoers can enjoy while listening to strums and hums in the background.

The lineup in 2026 included names like Cory Morrow, Little Texas, and Rick Trevino, performing once a month, March through August.
