After a pleasant Mother’s Day weekend, unseasonable triple-digit temperatures arrive in the Highland Lakes. Expect 100-plus-degree days from Tuesday through Friday, May 13-16. Monday’s high should reach around 91 degrees.

The National Weather Service forecast for the Marble Falls area calls for a sunny Tuesday with a high of 103. The heat will likely crank up to 106 degrees on Wednesday before dropping back down to 102 on Thursday and 100 on Friday. Skies should be mostly clear during the day with clouds and low to mid-70s at night.

It’s not much cooler this weekend with highs at around 99 on Saturday and Sunday. There’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday night.

The sizzling, summery temperatures follow a spell of cooler, windy, and often wet weather in the Highland Lakes. Parts of Burnet County received more than 6 inches of rain over the last 30 days and at least two days of tornadic activity
