The Science Mill is hosting two weeks of interactive STEAM-focused fun for Spring Break. The science, technology, engineering, arts, and math activities run March 8-23 at the museum, 101 S. Lady Bird Lane in Johnson City.
“Spring into STEAM” is designed to blend the best of art and science. Tickets may be purchased in advance at sciencemill.org or at the door. The Science Mill’s 50-plus regular exhibits are included in the price of admission.
Special activities during Spring Break include:
- Flipper Bots—Use the museum’s EZ Robot Flipper Bots to test hand-eye coordination and creative thinking by trying to flip or push an opponent’s bot out of the arena.
- Pendulum Painting—Look for patterns created by a spherical pendulum and predict how mass affects its swing and pattern, demonstrating Newton’s First Law of Motion.
- Make Your Own Harmonica—Design and play your very own harmonica-like instrument made from household items while exploring the science of sound.
- Imagination Unboxed—This challenge showcases artistic and engineering skills with the creation of fun costumes out of cardboard.
Science Mill hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Learn more about the nonprofit STEM museum at sciencemill.org.
