Cover your nachos!

Watch maniacal motorists mash their mangled machines in an evening of family fun during the Burnet Demolition Derby, which is 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Burnet County Fairgrounds, 1301 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Admission is $20 each for ages 10 and older, $10 for ages 6-9, and free for kids 5 and younger. Pay at the door or grab your tickets online. Parking is free.

The arena’s concession stand will be open, but you can bring your own beverages. A cooler fee is $10. No glass bottles allowed.

Along with the crashing and burning, derby action includes a children’s power wheel race and a dance competition. The fastest kid in the power wheel race wins $50.

Competitive dance winners are determined by cheers from the crowd. That prize is also $50.

For more information on the derby, call Rustey Ward at 512-234-0794 or Brent Nichols at 512-663-2856.
