Kingsland man found dead in western Travis County; arrest made

Llano County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating the death of Martin Rivera Montezuma, a 28-year-old Kingsland man who was found dead on Sunday, Sept. 17, in western Travis County. One man was arrested and another is wanted, both on a charge of tampering with evidence.

Sheriff’s Office deputies received a tip about a body dumped in the Round Mountain area, according to a media release. LCSO investigators discovered Montezuma’s body in a wooded area on Hamilton Pool Road after speaking with witnesses. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office was notified and processed the scene.

Luis Chacaj Tahual was arrested at about 2:30 a.m. Monday on a charge of tampering with or fabricating evidence with intent to impair for allegedly tampering with Montezuma’s body. Tahual is being held on a $50,000 bond at the Llano County Jail. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified upon Tahual’s arrest.

An arrest warrant was issued for another man, Pedro Chilotillo, who is also wanted on a charge of tampering with or fabricating evidence with intent to impair.
