Sept. 30 golf tourney benefits inclusive playground

Play a round for an inclusive playground. The Wyatt’s Clubhouse Classic Invitational is Sept. 30 at Legends Golf Course, 105 Rangeway Circle in Kingsland. Entry is $125 per player.
The tournament benefits a future playground designed for children of all abilities to be built in Marble Falls.
The Marble Falls Inclusive Play Group project would include ramps and harnesses as well as sensory-friendly equipment.
The 18-hole, four-person scramble has a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Check-in begins at 8 a.m.
“A lot of these things start early in the day,” said Taylor Smith, treasurer of Marble Falls Inclusive Play Group. “We wanted to have it earlier, so everyone can come, have fun, and not have it take up their entire day.”
Non-golfers can also help the cause.
“If you’re not part of the tournament, but you want to come up and have lunch with us, we can make that work,” Smith said.
Landolt BBQ is catering the event.
Organizers hope Legends Golf Course’s playability and location attract golfers from across the Highland Lakes.
“We’re really excited to have it out there,” Smith said. “It’s such a great course, and I think it brings not only the people of Marble Falls but also the Kingsland and Granite Shoals communities.”
The fundraiser also includes raffles for an iPad, coolers, and putters. Tickets are $10 each.
“You don’t have to be present to win,” Smith said.
Golf prizes will go to first and second places as well to the person with the longest drive and any holes-in-one during play.
