Emergency crews airlifted a 1-year-old Marble Falls child to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas after a vehicle hit the youth in an apartment complex parking lot.

According to Marble Falls Police Capt. Trisha Ratliff, a call came in at about 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, regarding a vehicle-pedestrian incident at the Rivercrest Apartments in the 1100 block of Avenue K.

Marble Falls police, Marble Falls Fire Rescue, and Marble Falls Area EMS units responded.

In an emailed statement, Ratliff said the investigation is ongoing. Based on initial reports, several children got out of the vehicle with their mother before the accident.

“The driver of the vehicle, also a family member, believed that all of the children were clear of the area surrounding the car before backing out,” according to the statement. “However, a 1-year-old was struck and injured.”

The child was transported to the Austin hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

A GoFundMe account was set up to help the child’s family.
