Beatrice “Bea” Olson, 87, passed away gracefully at her home in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018.

Bea was born Nov. 7, 1930, to Viola and Lynn Munsell. She was baptized and confirmed in Franklin, Minnesota, where she grew up. Bea was a graduate of Mankato State University. She was united in marriage to Dick Olson on Dec. 19, 1954.

Bea was a wonderful mother and teacher. She began teaching elementary school children then middle school teens and, lastly, special education students at Mankato East High. She was an amazing teacher inside and outside the classroom.

Bea enjoyed bridge, music, plays, and traveling. She especially loved spending time with family and friends. She was active in church, bridge club, and the Star Republican Women’s organization and enjoyed going to community events.

Bea is survived by daughter and son-in-law Lonnie and Mike Wolle of Farmington Minnesota; daughter Sherry Olson and significant-other Trey Ratliff of Horseshoe Bay; grandchildren, Brandon Wolle and wife Katie, Nicholas Wolle and fiancé Jenny Leovan, and Sarah Wolle; and great-grandchildren, Bryce Wolle, Layla Wolle, and Wyatt Wolle.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Olson, after 55 years of marriage.

A service and reception are 4-7 p.m. March 5 at Quail Point in Horseshoe Bay. Services in Minnesota include a visitation from 4-7 p.m. March 8 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato and a memorial service at 11 a.m. March 9, also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations, in honor of Bea Olson, to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, P.O. Box 1339, Fredericksburg, TX 78624.
