MARBLE FALLS — Authorities temporarily closed a portion of roadway and evacuated a duplex after a fire destroyed a vehicle in a carport on Stony Ridge Court.
The incident happened at about 5:20 p.m. Feb. 7 in the 900 block of the roadway. It occurred in a section of the subdivision lined with duplexes and adjacent to an apartment complex.
“The owner stated he had just gotten home 10 minutes earlier, and someone knocked on his door and said his car was on fire,” Marble Falls Fire Rescue Chief Russell Sander said. “It appears to be a mechanical issue in the engine of the car.”
The vehicle was an older-model Chevrolet Impala.
Crews evacuated the duplex as smoke filtered into the structure.
The blaze destroyed the vehicle. No damage to the home or injuries were reported.
