FROM STAFF REPORTS

BLANCO — Investigators are trying to determine why a Kingsland motorist crossed over into oncoming traffic July 27, resulting in his death after a three-car collision, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened at 6:04 p.m. that evening on U.S. 281, four miles north of Blanco.

Clifton Vancura, 50, died after his 2007 Toyota Highlander traveling north crossed the yellow line and struck the left side of a semi-truck going in the opposite direction.

The report stated that the SUV then collided head-on with a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 49-year-old Javier Garcia of Spring Branch.

Vancura was pronounced dead at the scene by Ben Oakley of Blanco EMS, according to the report.

The conditions of the drivers of the other vehicles were not reported at the time of the collision.
