Bennetta Jane Sachse Davis, 84, passed away at 9:02 p.m. July 22, 2016, in Pontotoc, Texas.

Bennetta was like no other. She was a very special one-of-a-kind woman. She loved being a homebody and helpmate to her husband, Gerald Preston Davis, to whom she was married for 32 years.

She loved to fish, bake, cook and work puzzles and was just content to stay at home and watch racing and football most of the time. She was a big fan and supporter of the Pontotoc Volunteer Fire Department.

Bennetta was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on Nov. 1, 1931, to Jasper and Ann Sachse. She had many siblings and was the only one still living.

She and Gerald married, lived and worked in Austin before moving to Pontotoc in 1987. Bennetta worked for the Austin Independent School District for many years.

She loved her family and was proud of her grandsons.

Bennetta was preceded in death by her parents, many siblings and her husband.

She is survived by her two sons, Eddie and wife Julie Cantu of Austin and Gerald “Dave” Jr. and wife Shawn Davis of Pontotoc; four grandsons, Gerald “Trey” Davis III and wife Shela of Denver, North Carolina, Danny Cantu and wife Christie of Austin, (his mother Estela Zavala), Matthew Davis and wife Abigail of Midland and Andrew Cantu of Austin; seven great-grandsons, Tristen, Riley, Noah, Ian, Wyatt and Joel Davis of Midland and Preston Cruz Cantu of Austin; and a special nephew, Carter Dingivan and wife Galina of Granby, Connecticut.

A graveside service is 10 a.m. July 29 at Pontotoc Cemetery.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Pontotoc Cemetery, the Pontotoc VFD or Hospice of San Angelo.

We are so thankful for the love, kindness and support of the staff at Hospice of San Angelo.

Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. Email whhfuneral1@verizon.net with condolences.
