Robbie King passed away in Bertram on May 5, 2016, at the age of 59. He was a son of Calvin Edmund and Joyce (Berry) King, born in Austin on April 11, 1957.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marines for four years, lastly as a corporal. He was a history buff, liked spicy food and loved to cook (and he was good at it). Robbie repaired commercial high-rise cranes. He had a soft spot was for animals.

After his stroke left him completely blind, Robbie adjusted to life not being what one expects. He was courageous, like a Marine, and never complained. He just accepted the life God had for him.

Surviving Robbie are his children; mother, Joyce Johnston; two sisters; one brother-in-law; an aunt; nieces, nephews; and cousins.

Robbie was preceded in death by his father, Grandparents, two aunts, two uncles and a brother-in-law.

Robbie spent many years under the care of the staff at Bertram Nursing Home. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff for the care and attention given to Robbie. “Money can’t buy the kind of love that he received by the ‘family’ at Bertram Nursing Home.”

Family was important to Robbie. His loved ones were all there to say their final goodbyes and let him be free again.

A graveside service was 11 a.m. May 7 at Liberty Hill Cemetery with Pastor G.W. Woods officiating.
