San Antonio man drowns in Lake LBJ after jumping off dock
KINGSLAND — A 20-year-old San Antonio man apparently drowned March 19 after jumping off a dock on Lake LBJ in the Kingsland area.
Officials reported that Edward Griffin was with friends when he jumped off the dock and didn’t resurface at about 2 p.m. Llano County sheriff’s deputies, Lower Colorado River Authority rangers, Buchanan Dam Volunteer Fire Department crew, Llano County EMS and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens responded to the incident.
The young man’s body was recovered a few hours later about 30 yards from where he went into the water. Llano County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Linda Ballard pronounced Griffin dead at 4:49 p.m.
Griffin graduated in 2014 from O’Connor High School in San Antonio.
Ballard ordered an autopsy. She added there was no evidence of drug or alcohol use, just a group of friends having fun.
The justice of the peace estimated it would take about two months before the autopsy results were completed.
