Noyce Lamar Osbourn

Noyce Lamar Osbourn, affectionately known as “Ozy,” of Odessa, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 21, 2016. He was born Sept. 6, 1938, in San Antonio to E.R. and Bette Marchand Osbourn of Llano.

Lamar graduated from Llano High School in 1957. He attended Abilene Christian College and Southwest Texas State University.

Lamar married Mary “Mimi” Houser in 1978 in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was a vice president in commercial and SBA lending at Ruidoso State Bank for 13 years and served several terms as a member of the Ruidoso school Bboard.

He left Ruidoso in 1986 to begin working for Texas Bank in Odessa as a senior vice president in charge of SBA lending in the Austin and Odessa branches. In 1996, Texas Bank merged with Wells Fargo Bank, at which time, he joined a core group that purchased Winkler County State Bank, which then became Southwest Bank of Odessa.

Ozy headed the SBA lending division of the bank and became the leading SBA lender in West, a distinction he and the bank held for over 20 years. He was senior vice president and advisory board member of South West Bank for many years. He served on the planning and zoning commission for the city of Odessa. He recently retired from South West Bank to enjoy spending more time with his family and to travel.

He loved his family, golfing, tennis, hiking, mountain climbing, playing guitar and cooking in chili cook-offs.

Lamar is survived by his loving wife, Mimi of Odessa; daughters, Kimberly Osbourn Hudson and husband Rick of Reno, Nevada, and Dawn Osbourn Nagayama and husband Larry of Mililani, Hawaii; brothers Gary Osbourn and wife Jana of Llano and Russell Terry Osbourn and wife Delana Osbourn of Cleburne; grandchildren, Garrett, Conner and William Hudson, James Vance, Keily and Krisanda Nagayama; and great-granddaughter, Kalea Nagayama.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

A memorial service is 3 p.m. March 26 at Llano City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. Email whhfuneral1@verizon.net with condolences.
