Melba Fae Paske, 73, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away Dec. 17, 2015. She was born to Jean and Belle (Fails) Cooper on Nov. 10, 1942, in San Antonio.

Melba worked at the Highland Bank in Kingsland for about 27 years and saw the name change several times. She enjoyed cooking chili for numerous chili cook-offs with her late husband, Rusty.  She made many lifelong friends on the chili cook-off trail. She was a member of the Highland Lakes Chili Pod and CASA for the Highland Lakes Area as a special advocate for children. She enjoyed cooking chili, working puzzles, bird-watching, bowling and reading.

Mrs. Paske is survived by her daughters, Terry Shreeve and Cheryl Reed and husband Bobby, all of Kingsland; stepson, Shawn Paske of Austin; stepdaughter, Dee Paske of Marble Falls; granddaughter, Megan Stinnett of Anson; and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Rusty.

Visitation is 3-5 p.m. Dec. 20 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008.  A funeral service is 1 p.m. Dec. 21 at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Billingslea officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park on Park Road 4 in Burnet.
