VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Burnet, Marble Falls and Llano results
GEORGETOWN — The Burnet High School volleyball team defeated defeated Georgetown Gateway 22-25, 25-6, 21-25, 25-20, 15-8 on Sept. 22 after losing to Fredericksburg 21-25, 13-25, 15-25 on Sept. 15.
Head coach Salye Coles complimented Gateway’s play.
“The very competitive Lady Dragons came out firing the ball, and the home court advantage seemed to take hold as the Lady Dragons won game one,” she said. “However, the Lady Dawgs would not take that lying down and came back with a forceful game two victory.”
Cole said she was pleased to see her players battle back from being down 2-1 in the match.
In the match against Fredericksburg, the coach said the Lady Dawgs were dealing with injuries, which affected the lineup.
“We had to put players in unfamiliar positions on the court,” she said. “We were not as aggressive offensively as we needed to be, and we did not execute well when we were out of systems. It was a good learning experience for our young players.”
