Foy Gene Petty, longtime resident of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away Sept. 16, 2015, at the age of 69. He died peacefully at home in the presence of family after a short battle with cancer.

Foy was born Jan. 26, 1946, in Stamford, Texas. His parents, Van and Nellie Dee Petty, lived in Lueders, Texas, where they raised a family of three boys while farming and operating a dairy farm.

Foy was no stranger to hard work from an early age and continued this work ethic throughout his adult life.

As a child, Foy loved the game of baseball and spending hours playing in and along “the creek” that ran through the dairy farm. During his high school years, he continued his love of sports through basketball and eventually met his lifelong sweetheart, Donna Blackstock.

Foy and Donna were married June 11, 1966, in Wylie, Texas. They spent the first part of their marriage in the Abilene area, but work would take them to different parts of the country where they began to raise a family. In 1977, Foy and Donna settled in Marble Falls, Texas, where Foy worked for Gibson’s, Lakeland Mall and eventually H-E-B from which he retired in 2005.

One of Foy’s proudest achievements was being part of the Marble Falls Volunteer EMS in the late 1970s. He earned the designation of EMT Special Skills and enjoyed serving others in this capacity. While not working, which was seldom, Foy enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting trap, woodworking and spending time with family.

Foy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna Petty, and their four children, Jennifer Hardinge and husband Gene Hardinge of Shreveport, Louisiana, Joy Jordan and husband Kenneth Jordan of Lawn, Troy Petty and wife Lisa Petty of Llano and Patrick Petty and wife Charlotte Petty of Marble Falls. His 10 grandchildren include Alex Hardinge, Andy Hardinge, Aleasa Hardinge, Josh Petty, Samuel Jordan, Aaron Hardinge, Abby Jordan, Noah Petty, Hannah Jordan and Max Petty. His siblings include Gilbert Petty and wife Ann Petty of Rule and sister-in-law Carole Ann Petty of Stamford. His mother-in-law is Mae Francis Blackstock of Marble Falls.

Foy was preceded in death by his father, Van Petty; mother, Nellie Dee Petty; father-in-law, Blackie Blackstock; and brother Harrel Petty.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sept. 18 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 2702 Mormon Mill Road in Marble Falls. A service is 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at the church. Pastor Kenneth Jordan will officiate, and honorary pallbearers are Wayne Jamar, Tim Wermers, Dr. Scott Liggett, David Crail, Jeff Beaman, Roy Jackson, Leroy Trussell and Dan Copeland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church building fund or to the Salvation Army per Foy’s request.
