Loulene Carpenter Sapp, 72, of Kingsland died Sept. 17, 2015
Loulene Carpenter Sapp, loving wife of George “Vic” Sapp, passed peacefully to her eternal rest Sept. 17, 2015, in Kingsland, Texas. Lou was born Dec. 10, 1942, to Ernie and Mildred Dellenbaugh in Edmond. Oklahoma.
The family lived in Marshall, Texas, but returned to Edmond, where Lou graduated from high school in 1961. In 1965, she earned a degree in restaurant management from Oklahoma State University and began a lifelong career as a restauranteur and pastry chef. She was mentored by Helen Corbett at Neiman Marcus in Dallas and owned The Chuckwagon restaurant in Mineral, Illinois, and later several cafes in Oklahoma City before moving to the Highland Lakes area 15 years ago. She was employed as the pastry chef for the Horseshoe Bay Resort as well as Café 909 in Marble Falls and continued to offer wedding and special occasion cakes until she retired.
During her 50-year career, Lou’s dedication for excellence in food service, outstanding culinary gifts and artistry in cake creations have left lasting memories for businesses and brides but mostly her friends, church and family.
She loved her lake community, fishing, going to the coast and playing cards with her beloved husband and neighbors. She was a dedicated member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women and the local TOPS groups.
Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She traveled countless miles to Nebraska, Washington state and Illinois to celebrate their achievements.
Lou was loved by everyone who met her as her loyalty, generosity, humor and love for people abounded in everything she did.
Loulene was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Dellenbaugh.
She is survived by her mother, Mildred Wilson of Edmond, Oklahoma; husband, George “Vic” Sapp of Kingsland; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and David Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska; son, Mitchel Carpenter of Seattle; grandchildren, Renni Johnson of Buffalo, New York, Raeanne Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ryan Johnson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Reed Johnson of Fort Collins, Colorado. Her surviving siblings are brothers Allen Dellenbaugh of Kingsland and Ray Dellenbaugh of Creede, Colorado, and sister Kathy Paulk of Edmond, Oklahoma, as well as a niece, several nephews and countless friends.
A celebration of her life was Sept. 21 at Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Marble Falls. The family wishes for memorials to be given to St. Andrew’s in gratitude for the sacrificial dedication shown to Lou and her family through these last months of her illness.
