KILLEEN — Three of the four Marble Falls High School cross-country teams earned medals at the Pro-Fit Invitational on Sept. 4.

The girls junior varsity squad won its division with 61 points, while the girls varsity earned silver with 105 points, and the junior varsity boys were third with 60 points.

The boys varsity team had only four runners and didn’t earn a team score. Team scores are awarded to squads with five or more runners.

Freshman Ty Gibson earned third overall in the junior varsity boys race.

The girls junior varsity team beat Georgetown East View, which finished second, and Georgetown High, which was third. All three are members of District 25-5A.

The Georgetown girls varsity squad was second in that division, and the Georgetown junior varsity boys won its division.

BURNET AT RUN FOR YOUR OATS

BERTRAM — Burnet High School senior cross-country runner Trevor Turner was the overall men’s  champion, while junior Abby Bullock was the silver medalist in the women’s division of the Run for your Oats on Sept. 5.

Turner finished the 3.3-mile course in 18 minutes 36 seconds, while Bullock was done in 20:48.

They also like this race because of the large number of spectators supporting the runners. It is a great atmosphere and supports a great cause,” head coach Stuart Dixon said.
