Morris William Sherry, 89, of Llano died Aug. 23, 2015
Morris William Sherry passed away Aug. 23, 2015. He was born Aug. 31, 1925, to Allie and Maggie Sherry in Gonzalez, Texas.
He served in the military from March 14, 1945, until he was discharged as a private first class (PFC) on Oct. 17, 1946.
He married Virginia Merle Buchanan in Georgetown, Texas, on Oct. 14, 1949. They spent their life raising their family in Llano, Texas. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, dancing, the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his family. Pop Pop was a fierce 42 player, and all his family wanted to be his partner because they all loved to win.
He retired from Texas Highway Department after 25 years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Llano.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years; his parents; brothers Horace Sherry and Jerldean Sherry; sisters Naomi Hearn, Emma Mae Kirchman and Nell Wilkerson; granddaughter Krista Dian Stegall; and great-grandson “Angel” Robertson.
He is survived by his daughters Dian Ray and husband J. Paul, Donna McCord and husband Greg, Linda Robertson and husband Jesse, Karen Hoerster and husband Jimmy and Teresa Kassell and husband Leland; five granddaughters; five grandsons; five great-granddaughters; nine great-grandsons; sister Pat Botard and husband Ottie; and brother James Sherry and wife Doris.
He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. Aug. 26 at Saint James Lutheran Church in Llano followed by a graveside service with military honors by the Highland Lakes Honor Guard at Llano City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Morris Bailey, Heath Robertson, Tyler Hoerster, Bradley Kassell, Caleb McCord and James Peevy. Honorary pallbearers are Branden Ellison, Tanner Robertson, Russell Ricketson and Peewee Smathers.
