BURNET — With a long road ahead of him, Jerry Alexander has a lot of good people walking alongside of him. On Aug. 22, many of those people — some who don’t even know him that well — are holding a community yard sale from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to raise money for his medical expenses and other costs.
The yard sale will be at Griffith Taxidermy, 1751 Texas 29. People can drop off donations for the yard sale at the taxidermy shop during business hours.
On July 18, Alexander was severely injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident on CR 118. The evening was meant to be a fun gathering of friends and family, but Alexander began a fight for his life when the ATV on which he was riding crashed. Another man was a passenger on the vehicle at the time of the incident but was treated and released from the hospital.
Alexander, 36, underwent several surgeries since the accident and faces many challenges in the future.
He and his wife, Denise, have seven children in their blended family. Family members said Alexander didn’t have health insurance at the time of the accident.
The Burnet High School graduate works in the communications and fiber-optics installation industry and is a well-known local youth sports fan.
Along with the yard sale Aug. 22, friends have set up a GoFundMe.com account for the family. To donate, go to www.gofundme.com/zrpxyw.
