Jack Maurice Talley, 62, passed away unexpectedly July 20, 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Amy and Stacey; son-in-law, Toby; grandson, Tyler; brother William Roy and wife Debbie Talley and their children James and Sandi; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; uncle Jerry and wife Alberta Allred and Angela; and aunt Jean Talley and Linda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Leverett and Marilyn Louise Talley.

Jack was born on May 7, 1953, in Burnet County to Jack and Marilyn Talley. He graduated from Llano High School in 1971 and seven days later on June 4, 1971 married his high school sweetheart and love of his life. On Dec. 15, 1974, and Aug. 21, 1977, respectively, he welcomed his two beautiful daughters, who were the most important part of his life.

Jack worked in the oil field for four years before finding his home with the Texas Department of Transportation for 28 years. Jack moved to Snyder, Texas, in 1995 after accepting a maintenance supervisor position, making Snyder his second home. He moved his way up from maintenance supervisor to area supervisor, and in 2011, he retired with a heavy heart, leaving behind many new-found lifelong friends.

He and Mary started raising cross-bred and full-blood boer goats in 1999. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. In 2006, he became a certified ABGA judge. He loved traveling across the United States, making new friends and encouraging the youth. His undeniable dedication to the boer goat industry was like a ray of sunshine each time he entered the show ring.

Along the way, he and Mary have been beyond blessed with numerous cherished lifelong friendships. His larger-than-life personality, heart, smile and laughter will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those who were lucky enough to have known him.

Visitation was 5-7 p.m. July 24 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A funeral service was 10 a.m. July 25 at Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church in Llano followed by graveside service at Llano City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Heart Association, the JABGA Youth Foundation, the JABGA Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice.
