Clifford Hilmar Lang passed away on July 4, 2015, at the age of 83. He was born Sept. 23, 1931, and was a lifelong resident of Castell, Texas. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church.

A dedicated husband, father and stockman, Clifford was born and raised in western Llano County and spent his entire life working the land. He loved hunting and visiting with friends and was always known as a man who believed in working hard, maintaining his ranch and taking good care of his cattle. He labored in the peanut fields of Mason County and then worked for the Llano County Road and Bridge Maintenance Department until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hilmar Lang; mother, Lilly Lang; and sister Juanita Watkins.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ella Lang of Castell; daughters, Barbara Lang of Hessmer, Louisiana, Vivian Horlen of Castell and Marci Hadeler and husband Glenn Hadeler of Castell. Clifford enjoyed the time he spent with his six wonderful grandchildren, James Bordelon and wife Hope, Bradley Bordelon and wife Kristi, Rebecca Pollock and husband Joe and Claire Ducote and husband Chase, all from Louisiana, and Cheryl Gelfond and husband Jon and Kyle Horlen and wife Kristin, all from San Antonio. Clifford was also blessed to have 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Phillips, Herb Kunz, Vernon Kunz, John Richardson, Douglas Head and Jamie Osbourn. Honorary pallbearers will be Homan Miiller, Terry Obermiller, Zane Magill, and Earl Wolcik.

A funeral service is 10 a.m. July 7 at St. John Lutheran Church in Castell. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. July 6 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.
