In 1948, Clendina met and married the love of her life, Herman Baker, and they shared the love of their daughter, Sharon. They traveled throughout Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee as Herman worked for Brown & Root. Loving the beauty of Central Texas, they made their home in Burnet County on Lake Buchanan.

Clendina was active in her community and was honored by being named Woman of the Year by East Lake Buchanan VFD/EMS Auxiliary in 1999.

There are many precious memories of the many family gatherings at the Bakers’ on Lake Buchanan. Clendina, in the blink of an eye, could prepare a meal for 10 or 50 relatives and will be forever remembered for frying the best fish.

Supporting the Burnet Bulldogs and being out and about throughout the years was always a highlight for Clendina. She could always be seen wearing the green and white for Friday night football or attending the many festivals in Burnet.

Clendina’s church family was a huge and important part of her life, and she could always be counted on to serve church dinners, be active in Bible study or participate in various church events.

The care and love provided by her daughter Sharon throughout the last few years was such a blessing to Clendina. Sharon always made sure “her cute little mama” had everything she needed. Clendina will be missed by many, but we know she and Herman will be dancing on the golden streets of Heaven.
