Mary Kathryn Shaw, 96, of Kingsland died April 17, 2015

Mary Kathryn “Kat” Shaw passed away on April 17, 2015, in Kingsland, Texas, at the age of 96. She was born the third of eight children to Ola and Frank Gowen on Jan. 6, 1919, in San Antonio, Texas.
She grew up in a lovingly large family with numerous cousins and married her partner for life, C.D. Shaw, in 1940. Although her time with C.D. was unexpectedly cut short in June 1977, she kept his memory alive and joyfully lived in the house he built for her on Lake LBJ until her final days.
She was the life of the party and never knew a stranger. She enjoyed beer, spirited political conversations, the Spurs and the Cowboys, morning coffee on her front porch and Willie Nelson music. She is remembered for her witty one-liners, youthful attitude, unconditional love for others and infectious laughter. She was a loving mother, a terrific grandmother and a doting great-grandmother. Her attitude shined forth the gratitude in her heart. She is greatly missed but lives on through the many stories shared by so many who knew and loved her.
If you knew Kat Shaw, please send your most memorable story about her to katshawmemorial@gmail.com so we can compile a tribute album for her great-grandchildren.
Her survivors include her son, Brad Shaw (wife Shirley) of Kingsland; grandchildren, Kristi Shaw (husband Roger) of Austin, Christopher Shaw (wife Mallory) of San Antonio, Kevin Michalik (wife Judi), Carl Michalik (wife Deborah) and Jodi Wagner (husband Michael), K’Lynn Burns and Shelly Boykin; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Amelia, Malachi, Erica, Savannah, Shelby, Emily, Jordan, Virginia and Seth; great-great-grandchildren Hunter and Rylie; and numerous family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.D. Shaw; sisters Elizabeth Cole and Joy Perry; and brother James Gowen.
A graveside service is 10:30 a.m. May 1, 2015, at San Fernando Cemetery III (formerly Roselawn Memorial Park), 1735 Cupples Road in San Antonio.
