Easter egg hunts, church services in the Highland Lakes

FROM STAFF REPORTS
GRANITE SHOALS — Easter eggs are rolling into a park near you. And if you’re a grandparent, a parent or anyone else with a gaggle of kids roaming about the house, you have several local egg hunts from which to choose.
We’ve compiled a list of several happening in the Highland Lakes, so you don’t have to hunt one down.
One of the largest and most popular is the Granite Shoals Police Officer’s Association’s annual Granite Shoals Easter Egg Hunt. When the kids stream across Veterans Park on Cedar Drive at 10 a.m. April 4, they’ll be participating in the 11th annual one.
And the GSPOA will stock the park with 20,000 eggs filled with toys and candy.
The event is free for the kids from Granite Shoals and the surrounding communities. It’s a great chance for families to come out and have fun as well as an opportunity to meet some of the local police officers.
In Kingsland, the Llano County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an Easter egg hunt at the Kingsland Convention and Community Center on April 4 from 2-3 p.m. Kids can hunt up some eggs and fun as well.
The convention center is located at 3451 Rose Hill Drive.
A community Easter egg hunt and breakfast will take place April 4 at First Christian Church, 204 E. Graves in Burnet. Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. and the hunt will begin at 10 a.m.
The event is sponsored by First Christian Church, First Lutheran Church, First Baptist Church and Burnet Presbyterian Church. Contact fccburnet@verizon.net or (512) 756-2223.
If you’re in the Inks Lake vicinity April 4, or just want an excuse to head that way, Inks Lake State Park is holding an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. across form the central park (near the volleyball court and park store.)
It’s free to participate in the egg hunt, though regular gate fees apply. While you’re at the park, there will be several other activities going on as well throughout the day including a Texas Time Travelers display, which will give you a peek into what life was like 150 years ago. And there will be a teepee. Other activities include a hike, a night sky party and a geocaching workshop. You never knew an Easter Egg hunt could lead to so many other fun activities.
The park is located at 3630 Park Road 4 West south of Texas 29 and north of Kingsland.
