Sheriff’s office: Human skeletal remains found west of Burnet

BURNET — Burnet County deputies are investigating the discovery of human remains found March 31 west of Burnet.
A utility contractor was checking power lines in the area of FM 3509 and Williams Road when the contractor spotted possible skeletal remains. About 11 a.m., deputies responded to the location and confirmed they were human remains.
But Burnet County Sheriff’s Office officials didn’t believe there was a public danger.
“Due to the level of decomposition to the body, it appears the remains have been there for an extended period of time,” according to a BCSO news release.
The remains were transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The cause of death is unknown at this time
This is an ongoing investigation.
