John Richard Nylander Jr., 69, died March 10, 2015. He was born May 31, 1945, in Garrett, Indiana, to Fern and John Richard Nylander Sr.
He graduated from Walkerton High School and attended the University of Indiana for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Army as an airborne Ranger. John honorably served from 1966-1979.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Fern Nylander; father, John Richard Nylander Sr.; and sons Robert and Daniel Montgomery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeri Nylander; sisters, Joan Haney and Patty Bogart of Walkerton, Indiana; brother, Robert Nylander of Woody, California; sons John R. Nylander III and Bradley J. Nylander; daughters, Dana-Joy Cremin, Heather Montgomery and Ronica Marshall; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. March 12 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 10 a.m. March 13 at the funeral home with interment at 3 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
