HOOVER’S VALLEY — People just love Inks Lake State Park.
And why not?
Inks Lake State Park, located at 3630 Park Road 4 West, offers so many great ways to enjoy the outdoors. If you’re just looking for a place to hang a hammock and relax for a day, Inks Lake State Park is the place for you. Or maybe you want to “escape” a bit for “primitive” camping. Inks Lake State Park offers some nice hike-in sites to pitch your tent for day or two, even longer.
Located on the shores of Inks Lake, a pass-through lake, boaters can take advantage of the park’s boat ramp. The only public one on the lake.
And if you don’t have a boat, you can rent a canoe, kayak or paddleboat at the Inks Lake State Park store. You can also stock up on other necessities at the store as well.
Inks Lake State Park provides camping variety, from the backpacker (as pointed out above) to the RV enthusiasts. You can pull in, hook up and enjoy.
One of the greatest things about Inks Lake State Park is its outreach, or interpreter, programs. If you’re looking to learn a bit about the outdoors but aren’t sure where to start or who to ask, Inks Lake State Park has you covered.
Almost every weekend, Inks Lake State Park officials hold educational programs including on topics such as geocaching, learning to fish and Dutch oven cooking. They even hold a native fiber workshop on some weekends where you can learn about making paper from native plants.

If you’re looking for more in-depth programs, Inks Lake State Park regularly hosts Texas Outdoor Family workshops where you and your family can camp out for a weekend and explore all sorts of great topics. Plus, you get to do it as a family.
Whether you’re looking to stretch your legs on the many trails, cool off in the lake or do a little fishing, Inks Lake State Park is the place to be.
