Donald Gene Cooper, 85, of Cedar Park died Feb. 7, 2015

Donald Gene Cooper, 85, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away Feb. 7, 2015. He was born June 7, 1929, in Sutherland, Iowa, to Walter and Mabel Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Irene Cooper; son, Larry Cooper and wife Barbie of Placentia, California; daughter, Susan Parker and husband Michael of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; grandsons, Hamilton and Chasen Cooper and Eric and Norton Parker; and one great-granddaughter, Layna Cooper.
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Feb. 17 at Beck Funeral Home, E. Whitestone Blvd. in Cedar Park, (512) 259-1610. A celebration of his life will be held afterward.
Besides being a devoted husband of 61 years, a loving father and a proud Grandpa, Don was a trap shooter, hunter and tireless fisherman. In fact, he retired to Highland Haven for the fishing. Before that, Don was an entrepreneur, starting several businesses in Paullina, Iowa; Norfolk, Nebraska; Houston; and Austin. When asked recently if he was a good mechanic, he replied, “the best.”
