COTTONWOOD SHORES — City officials gathered under sunny skies Jan. 27 on Lake Marble Falls to officially open the Cottonwood Shores Public Boat Ramp.
“It turned out extremely well,” Cottonwood Shores Mayor Donald Orr said. “It’s only the second (public) boat ramp on the entire lake, so we’re glad to get it back open.”
The boat ramp is located off the intersection of Lakeview and Westwood drives. It features a dedicated swimming area, the ramp and a parking dock for boats.
The ramp is part of a nearly $200,000 project, made possible by a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The city paid about $50,000 toward the project.
The only final touches remaining are to place large landscaping boulders to help separate the swimming area from the ramp and keep vehicles from parking near the area.
The project has been in the works since 2008. Now that it’s finished, Orr said he hopes the ramp attracts more people to the city.
“It’s positive for us because it brings people in, lets them see Cottonwood Shores and see the things we’re doing in Cottonwood Shores. They’ll buy some gas here, possibly, and maybe eat at one of our restaurants,” Orr said.
