Pet pig starts fire
The Pedernales Fire Department snuffs a blaze sparked by a pet pig chewing through wires leading to an outdoor electric grill, investigators say. The incident happened about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 22 after a Spicewood homeowner noticed smoke outside the front porch deck at the residence in the 22,500 block of Spanish Dagger Trail in Travis County, a half-mile east of the Pedernales River Bridge. According to the report, firefighters contained the damage to the front porch and reported no injuries.
Boat ramp ready for launch in Cottonwood Shores
Cottonwood Shores city officials unveil a public boat ramp after thousands of dollars in renovations paid for with a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department matching grant. A ceremony is set for 1 p.m. Jan 27 at the ramp, 3729 Lakeview Drive in Cottonwood Shores on Lake Marble Falls. The structure is one of two public boat ramps on the waterway.
