Doris Edwards Brown, 90, of Burnet died Jan. 1, 2015. She was born May 28, 1924, in Thorndale, Texas, (Milam County) to Henry Nathan and Delila Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Farris Brown Jr.; brothers Virgil and Alton; and sisters Audrey and Allyne.

She is survived by daughter, Teresa and husband Ronnie Lee; two grandchildren, Chad Lee and Brooke Dempsey; four great-grandchildren, Jordanne Lee, Jake Lee, Farris Gavin Dempsey and Keira Dempsey; five brothers Alvin, Barkley, Danny, Calvin and Melvin Edwards; sister Margie McGee; and many nieces and nephews. She loved them all dearly.

She married Farris Brown Jr. on June 30, 1942, in Stamford, Texas. They lived in Abilene for 32 years and the Highland Lakes for 32 years.

In Abilene, she was a longtime employee of Thornton’s Department Store and Super Duper Grocery Stores. After moving to the Highland Lakes, she and Farris were self-employed in the lawn care business.

She was a loving wife and mother and was devoted to her grandchildren. She was happiest when doing for others and was a wonderful cook. She was much loved and will be greatly missed but is now reunited with all those gone before her. She went to be with her beloved Farris on his birthday.  What a wonderful reunion.

The family is forever grateful to everyone at Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet for the love and care given.

She will be cremated, and there will be a celebration of her life in the spring.

Arrangements by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373.
