Marble Falls EDC director earns international honor

MARBLE FALLS — The International Economic Development Council recently bestowed the designation of Certified Economic Developer upon Christian Fletcher, the director of the Marble Falls Economic Development Corp.

It wasn’t something the IEDC “gave” Fletcher but something he earned through pursuing his education and passing the CeDC exam Oct. 18-19 in Fort Worth. The designation denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

Fletcher, who has more than eight years of community development experience, was one of 15 individuals who earned the certification at this year’s IEDC annual conference.

The CeDC designation recognizes qualified and dedicated practitioners in the economic development field and sets the standard of excellence within the profession. Candidates must pass a rigorous and comprehensive three-part, two-day examination. The exam tests a person’s knowledge, proficiency and judgement in key areas of economic development, including business retention and expansion, marketing, finance, workforce development, community development, real estate, strategic planning, technology-led economic development and management.

There are currently more than 1,000 active CeDCs in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
