COTTONWOOD SHORES — What started as an idea will become reality Oct. 25 and 26 in Cottonwood Shores.
A new outdoor market featuring about 20 booths opens in Cottonwood Shores on FM 2147 at the old Java Bean coffee shop.
“We were at a meeting talking about something else, and my wife (Carla) said, ‘You know what? This place would be perfect for a market,’” said Mark Love, organizer of the Castlerock Market and Art Bazaar.
Parking will be available on Cottonwood Drive and up to On The Rocks restaurant. Booths will be set up in the cleared field east of the building. A sign facing FM 2147 will be built and feature vendor names.
Area vendors from San Antonio to Austin and Johnson City to Kingsland will feature homemade or handcrafted items at the market. The market will be open through December, then reopen during warmer weather in the spring.
“Once it’s started and we come back next year, it’s going to go like crazy,” Carla Love said.
The former coffee shop building will not be open, for now. Restroom facilities will be available on site.
Carla Love said the building could be open during future market days as it grows.
“Once we do that, the long-term plan is to open up and have great market days,” she said.
