BURNET — The Burnet High School volleyball team snapped a two-game losing skid with a two-match winning streak last week.

The Lady Dawgs defeated Llano 25-12, 25-22, 25-20 on Oct. 17 and Lampasas 25-22, 25-22, 25-15 on Oct. 14. They clinched a playoff spot and are tied for second place in District 25-4A with Salado with three matches remaining.

“These kids are fantastic to work with and are extremely coachable,” Burnet head coach Salye Coles said. “They have grown and matured so much this season.”

Coles said this week is crucial for playoff positioning. Burnet is at Taylor on Oct. 21 and at home against Salado on Oct. 24.

“Two wins will place us in outright second,” she said.

DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Marble Falls High School volleyball team lost to Dripping Springs 13-25, 12-25 and 7-25 in a District 25-5A contest Oct. 21.

The scores do not reflect the effort of the Lady Mustangs, head coach Julie Downs said.

She noted long rallies, good digs and exceptional blocking by freshman Aubree Adams.

“(We) continue to fight through this district season in an effort to bring home a win in this very tough part of our season,” Downs said.

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School volleyball team lost to Leander 17-25, 14-25, 13-25 in a District 25-5A contest Oct. 17.

“At many times, the Lady Mustangs led the match but got into a slump late and failed to close the gap created by multiple errors,” Marble Falls head coach Julie Downs.

Still, Downs noted her players improved their kill percentage by 10 percent for the match.

“The Lady Mustangs really stepped up their offense and passing game,” she said.
