Burnet, Marble Falls golfers compete at junior golf association tourney
BURNET — The Burnet and Marble Falls high school golf teams competed at the Burnet Junior Golf Association tournament Oct. 17-18.
The Lady Dawgs shot a 391-417–808 for sixth place. Marble Falls did not earn a team score, but head coach Lonnie Tackitt saw a lot from his golfers.
He noted Delaney Kelley lowered her personal best by 12 strokes for a 92. The Marble Falls High School marching band member did not play the second day because of a contest.
The other Lady Mustangs had solid rounds. Blaire Hambrick and Breanna Heinzke each shot an 85, which Tackitt called terrific, and Sam Offut’s 95 is in line with what she normally scores.
Neither the Burnet nor the Marble Falls boys squads earned team scores. Mustang Thomas Winters finished fifth after losing on the first playoff hole to a birdie.
“Other boys were disappointed in what they shot but ready to work on getting better,” Tackitt said.
