Bluebonnet Chorale warmed up and ready for holiday and spring season
HORSESHOE BAY — The Bluebonnet Chorale, a women’s singing group, is warming up and accepting requests to perform for its 2014-2015 season, especially during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
Groups that would like to schedule a performance should schedule it soon; the Chorale already has eight engagements booked through Christmas.
The popular group has been entertaining Hill Country organizations and churches and at events for the past 16 years. Singing in four-part harmonies, the women perform a broadly entertaining program comprised of holiday favorites, seasonal songs “and new songs that are bound to become favorites,” chorale director Mary Williams said.
The spring performances this year will be a medley of well-known tunes to celebrate the long career of Julie Andrews, who is turning 80. Those performances start in mid-March and go through May.
There is no cost for performances, although donations are accepted, Williams said, and are used to purchase new music for the group. Programs are 25-35 minutes long and can be adapted for the hosting organization, she said.
The chorale welcomes new members, and women who “love to sing” are invited to rehearsals on Mondays at The Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge. Rehearsals are usually held 2-3:45 p.m.
