The indefatigable Ethel Mae Raesener of Meadowlakes, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Sept. 17, 2014.

Ethel Mae was born in Houston on July 6, 1916, to Ida Mae and Frank Roger Williams. On July 11, 1937, she married the love of her life, A.L. “Lee” Raesener, who preceded her in death on June 19, 1992. They lived in Houston for 61 years, before moving to Meadowlakes when her husband retired in 1977. She lived there happily ever since.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Marble Falls for 36 years, an avid bridge player and involved in women’s clubs, bridge clubs, garden clubs (she grew award-winning roses), church circles and water aerobics. She also became quite the lucky bingo player in her later years.

Ethel Mae took fashion cues from no one. Her signature, everyday look was always a surprise. She was the life of the party and lit up a room with her pixie smile, laughter and tiny sparkly shoes. She loved socializing and made new friends of all ages throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and two sisters; her beloved husband; son, Lee A. Raesener; and grandson, Jack Frederick Raesener.

Ethel Mae is survived by her adoring granddaughter, Leanne Raesener of Austin and Ralph A. Harper Jr. of Beeville; devoted ex-daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Raesener of Meadowlakes; beloved family friends, Pidge, Tom and great-grand-godson, Truman Stueckroth of Horseshoe Bay; nieces Connie Lynn Perry, Susan and Travis Shannon, Kathy and Mark Amthor, Patsy and Fred Mokry and Cynthia and David Naples; and nephews H.O. and Carolyn Raesener, David and Sharon Raesener and Ken and Shirley Parker; as well as numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; and many close, loving friends of all ages.

Visitation for family and friends is 6-8 p.m. Sept. 23 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls. A memorial service in celebration of Ethel Mae’s joyful life is 11 a.m. Sept. 24 at First United Methodist Church, 1101 Bluebonnet Drive in Marble Falls.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Ethel Mae Raesener in honor of her beloved husband, son and grandson to: Texas Methodist Foundation, c/o Jack Frederick Raesener, Scholarship Fund #0119, 11709 Boulder Lane, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78726, (800) 933-5502.
