Buchanan VFD celebrates almost four decades of annual barbecue

BUCHANAN DAM — With 39 years of barbecue experience behind them, the Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department knows a thing or two about serving a good plate of, well, barbecue.
The 39th annual Buchanan VFD BBQ at the Red Barn is slated for Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. until the barbecue is gone. The Red Barn is located at 2398 RR 261 in Buchanan Dam.
The barbecue is served with all the trimmings, and your contribution is by donation. You can even take it with you.
Along with the barbecue, you can enjoy live music, a cake walk and the Sweet Shop. There also will be a silent auction, and you don’t need to be present to win.
The proceeds from the event go toward purchasing GPS units for the fire trucks and outfitting a new heavy-duty brush truck.
