BURNET — When it comes to our trucks and tractors, the more power the better — especially at the third annual Bulldog Thunder truck and tractor pull, where it’s all about power.

“These are definitely not your off-the-showroom-floor trucks and tractors,” said Damon Beierle of Double Eagle Entertainment, who sponsors the event. “It’s amazing to see how much these trucks and tractors can pull.”

Bulldog Thunder is Sept. 19-20 at the Burnet County Fairgrounds, 1225 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet (behind the municipal airport on U.S. 281 South.) Gates open at 5 p.m. with the pulling starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the gate for adults and $10 for children ages 6-11. Admission is free for kids 5 and younger.

Advance tickets, which are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-11, are available at the Burnet Chamber of Commerce, 229 S. Pierce St, and Blair’s Western Wear, 2501 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls.

The setup is just as it sounds: These tractors and trucks hook up to some weights and then attempt to haul butt down a track.

“This is something you don’t see very often,” Beierle said. “This is one of the few times you can catch this type of action around here.”

The Texas Truck and Tractor Pullers Association sanctions Bulldog Thunder, so participants can compete for points in the TTTPA standings. This is one of the last three pulls before the TTTPA Championship Pull on Nov.  14-15 at Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio.

TTTPA has seven different pull classifications: Limited Modified Tractor, Super Street Diesel 4×4, Econo Rod Tractor, Pro Stock 4×4 Tractor, Hot Farm Tractor, Pro Modified Tractor and Super Modified 2WD.

“We’ll have all seven classes both nights, so there’s no split,” Beierle said. “At some events, you have some classes competing one night and other classes another, but we’re giving spectators a chance to see all the classes no matter which night they come.”

Or just come both nights and get in on all the action.
