Civil War historian to speak at Burnet library’s Coffee Talks

BURNET — The author series Coffee Talks kicks off its fourth season on Sept. 11 at the Herman Brown Free Library.

Civil War historian Ed Cotham will present a program at 2 p.m. at the library, 100 E. Washington. Refreshments will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Cotham’s books include “Battle on the Bay: the Civil War Struggle for Galveston,” “Sabine Pass: the Confederacy’s Thermopylae” and “The Southern Journey of a Civil War Marine: the Illustrated Note-Book of Henry O. Gusley.”

The award-winning author is active in the Civil War preservation movement; has served as president of the Friends of Sabine Pass Battleground, project historian for nautical archaeology projects and marine steward for the Texas Historical Commission; and is a life member of the Civil War Preservation Trust.
