Jo Anne Truiett Phillips, 75, of Bertram passed away Aug. 8, 2014. She was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Elgin to Oscar and Madge (Clark) Truiett.

She graduated from Austin High School and was baptized at age 14 at San Marcos Street Church of Christ in Austin. Jo Anne battled cancer for 31 years. Early on, when asked about her visitors and those who wanted to see her, she said, “I want to see anyone who wants to see me.” She laughed and joked that anyone who would go to the trouble of finding her house must really have wanted to see her. She really appreciated each visit.

Jo Anne is survived by her husband, Durwood; daughters, Carolyn Edwards and husband Boyd of Bertram, Jennifer Kolbasinski and husband Steve of Austin and Stephanie McGill of Round Rock; stepdaughters, Rhonda Scott and husband Randy of Houston, Julie Leps and husband Ron of Weir and Vicki Asp and husband David of Houston; grandchildren, McKenna, Rebecca, Melissa, Bethany, Mia, Justin, Misty, Landon, Robert, Ryan, Brian, Andrew and Caleb; and great-grandson, Gus.

A funeral service was Aug. 10 at the Bertram Church of Christ with interment following at Oatmeal Cemetery.
