MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School tennis team is adding another task to the first week of training camp, which begins Aug. 11.

The Mustangs are conducting a free tennis clinic for players ages 6 through the eighth grade Aug. 12-14.

The event is 9-10 a.m. at the Charlie and Nancy Herrington Tennis Complex on the high school campus, 2101 Mustang Drive.

“We want to inspire these kids and educate them about the game of tennis,” head coach Jeff Savage said. “There’s no better way to introduce team tennis to the community than actually the tennis team helping these kids.”

All players should bring their own water to the complex.

Once the clinic wraps each day, Savage said the high school players will do conditioning and cardio workouts.

He said the players must improve their consistency, and coaches will emphasize the basics.

That’s one reason he wants the older players working with the young ones. By teaching the fundamentals, it reinforces to his players why they must be better at the basics.

Anyone who has a love for the sport is welcomed to stop by the complex during the clinic, Savage said.

“Parents are encouraged to stay and help work with their kids,” he said.
