Lake Buchanan Conservation Corp. to host Texas Parks fishery biologist July 15

BUCHANAN DAM — If you’re looking for the inside scoop on Lake Buchanan fish populations and its ecosystem, you might want to attend the Lake Buchanan Conservations Corp. meeting July 15.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department fisheries management biologist Marcos De Jesus will be the speaker. He supervises a team that monitors fish populations and aquatic habitats of Lake Buchanan and the Highland Lakes through surveys and other research. The team conducted a gill-net survey of Lake Buchanan in February.

During the meeting, De Jesus will share some of what he and his team learned from the recent survey. The survey gives a “state of the lake” for Lake Buchanan. De Jesus will also discuss the effects the current drought is having on white bass populations.

The public is invited to the meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. It will be held at the Hill Country Hall, 15675 Texas 29. Call Ron Abshier at (512) 470-1138 for more information.
