Doris was a graduate of Danville High School and retired from GeoSource, where she worked as a secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Christopher, who she married Sept. 16, 1946, in Ohio.
Doris was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay. She enjoyed sewing and baking and considered her biggest achievement was raising her family and enjoying time with her 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Three words that sum up her life are devotion, faith and love.
Doris is survived by her children, Randy Christopher and wife Carol, Ann Cooperrider, Jane Walters and husband John, James L. “Jimmy” Christopher Jr. and wife Janice, Patricia Hernandez, David Christopher and wife Judy and Nancy Cohen. Also surviving are her brother Donald Butts; sister, Marie Smith; as well as her 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her husband James L. Christopher in 2006 and brothers Richard Butts and Louis Butts.
A visitation for family and friends with a rosary was June 30. A funeral service was July 1 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay with Father Ruben Patano officiating and lay readers Amy Reed, Angela Hernandez and Kerri Cohen-Elliott. Interment is 4 p.m. July 1 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Those named as pallbearers were Randy Christopher, James L. Christopher Jr., David Christopher, Michael Cohen II, Brandon Christopher and James L. Christopher III.
