BURNET — The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District girls athletics program has two new coaches for the 2014-2015 school year.

Frank Huey, who was the Marble Falls High School girls basketball assistant coach in 2012-2013, will be the Lady Dawgs head track-and-field coach and assistant basketball coach.

Crystal Syphrett will coach all girls sports at Burnet Middle School. She is taking over for Holly Hafley, who retired.

Syphrett was previously hired as a coach for the school district but left for R.J. Richey Elementary School when she became a mother, girls athletic coordinator Doug Messer said.

“She’s a great teacher,” he said. “She’s done a great job here. She takes the initiative and works with them. She knows all the kids coming up.”

Huey brings “enthusiasm, energy and experience,” Messer said. “Frank brings a pretty good résumè.”

He previously coached at Brownwood.

“He brings a wealth of experience,” Messer said. “He’s a good teacher, which will help us.”
